Some random Indian sounding dude called my landline saying he is from WINDOWS, which private number he got from the satellite, which he says shows that our internet connection is faulty and the government have traced as having a serious VIRUS sending them a warning???? . . . I let him rant, SO there are ALIENS spying on us - What a load of crap - the next one to call tomorrow from a different number (because the numbers have been 0177324458, 005208050006 and change daily ) I am about to report them to my service provider. I want to BLOCK these idiotic callers from my phone! But how? I wish someone from the real WINDOWS would comment on this! These callers think I'm a monkey!!!!

We get a lot of nuisance calls from Indian sounding guys. The moment I hear the accent I hang up. I've had nothing like you describe though.

Jabo, that is what I do. Unless I just want to have fun with them... and that can be hallarious... I just hang up. But sometimes I get in a mean mood and dig at them:: smiles::

When a German is very surprised about something, they may say, "The monkey is delousing me!" I say that very often.

@TheHorse Well, it's a German saying. Each language has its special sayings and proverbs. You could also say, "I think a horse (!) is kicking me." What do *YOU* think about this one?

@Inlemay mines a landline one, which will block specific numbers or groups like international ones so long as you have caller display. But they can still leave a message which kind of defeats the purpose sadly.

And frances, they can just move on over to another number. You can't block every number these scammers use. It is impossible.

I had a call like that from Microsoft one time @Inlemay . They gained access to my computer, bank account, etc and when they realized I had no money, credit cards, savings, etc., they started laughing and said, "Thank you for participating." It wasn't until later than I learned Microsoft would never call you. I was stupid and ticked off at the same time.

I got that same phone call a couple days ago. In the middle of all the calls I need to make and receive due to my father's passing, I get that one. Believe me, as soon as I heard he was from WINDOWS I hung up on him. And I wasn't nice about it either.

This was a common one over here until recently and I received many of them myself. I found it hilarious that someone tried claiming to work for Windows because there is no such company.

I have read from other users around the world about those fake phone calls. My phone number is private and it's not on the telephone guides, so I am lucky I receive no calls.

First off, I love your picture of the monkeys. We have these kinds of scams going on in the US all the time. We do have a number we can be put on that will block some calls, but they actually go to another phone and call from there, and there is someway they can pick up on a friend's number and use it, and when you call it back, it has either been disconnected or the friend will answer and know nothing about it. These I report really soon, and they get right on them to take care of it.

We get those constantly. The last one I got I lost my temper. In my best fake-Indian accent I shouted into the phone, "Samir, is that you, you dog? You still owe me 5000 rupees! Hey, I think I'll get my cousins and come over right now to collect it." He told me I was crazy and hung up.

You are not alone here and in my country it is even more rampant since some idiots working in the mobile service providers are selling our details like it is legit. So it was no surprise that scammers arrested in my country and overseas Philippines, Cambodia and Taiwan had already scammed millions before they were arrested and God knows whether all were arrested since they are rather large size groups. We have investment (ponzi mostly) to your child has had a nasty accident, so it can be quite harrowing for us when we could not really tell the truth or lie from the first call. So consider yourself to be lucky that it was just some Indian Microsoft guy calling. On the hindsight, I think you should all group up and give Microsoft some pressure to get them with their resources to go after these idiots.

This is one of the reasons why I give out my home phone number to certain people only. And my mobile phone for other purposes... I can change my mobile phone number anytime as SIM cards in the Philippines come in cheap and has free credits in it.
