Going Through the Motions

I just read a post that reminded me that life really does go on. While she was having fun on Sunday, I was going through loss. Since Sunday I've been just going through the motions of living. I get up, get dressed, do what I'm supposed to, and hope that this lethargic feeling will go away. I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. I just lay there for a long time. I know I have AWANA tonight, another proof that life goes on, and I hope those kids interject some life in me. In the mean time I'm doing what I can and hope that I come out of this fog soon. Thanks for reading. I hope you're having a great day.

It will be 10 years in Oct. since my Dad passed and there are still days that I have to motivate myself to get up and go on about life. It is difficult to know what will trigger those foggy days, whether it be a holiday, birthday, memory, dream. This is a tough month for me. Dad's birthday is the 27th and the 30th my Pop Pop passed 6 years ago. A lot of memories and thoughts of them fill my waking time. We never stop mourning we just try and adjust to living without our loved ones. Praying for you in the days ahead.

@just4him yes and I wish you a brave journey forward - you as I am too, are now an orphan - a child without any living parents.

@Inlemay Thank you. I leave shortly for the last segment in this drama - Dad's entombment. Then a new chapter in my life will start.

Valerie it will take a while for the fog to life and then will somehow go back to being normal. Hope you are having a better day.

@Marcyaz Thank you. It was a good day. Not a large crowd, but a good one, mostly relatives and a few close friends of the family.

I've been in the same 'funk' for more than a month now. I've been trying to do a few things to jump start my mood like getting back to myLot, trying to joh/run everyday, burying my head with work, etc. But in reality, I'm also just going thru the motions. I too hope to get out of this fog soon.

I hope you do too. I'm not usually here. Did you also lose a loved one recently?

@just4him some hit us different for different reasons. I might suggest adopting an Eldar, at church or a local nursing/retirement home, if and when you are ever ready.

I know. I went through a grief class when my brother passed two years ago. I just didn't expect what I'm feeling now.

Everyone grieves in their own time. I've been told the worst thing we can do is try to rush ourselves through it. Most times, I consider it my secret pain because no one sees me cry or sees the anguish on my face on my really bad days. I let it all out in private. But dear friends will want to help. And of course, God is there to help with all of our problems. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

It will take time as you are going through the griefing process and there is light at the end of this tunnel

I know, but right now that light is dim.
