Courageous Italian Athlete - an inspiration to all

A mischievous American kid from an Italian family becomes a fast runner Olympic champion. Later he becomes a soldier and flies a bomber which is down by the Japanese navy during World War II. Incredibly, he and his companions are left adrift in the ocean for 47 days existing on rubber boat rafts after another plane malfunctioned. They are attacked by sharks, bombed by Japanese aircraft - amid stormy seas - and sent to a POW camp. There a sadist Japanese prison commander relentlessly punishes the young man mercilessly. After the war, he goes on a personal quest of redemption, reconciles himself to God, forgiving his captors. I enjoyed 'Unbroken' (2014) film and found it to be a great, inspirational biography of Anthony Zamperini who endured the worst inhumane injustices and lived until 90 + years.

@amadeo Yes, it is nicely directed by Angelina Jolie. And the story was amazing. I couldn't believe that Anthony had endured so much cruelty at that prison. Jack O'Connell was great as 'Louie' Zamperinit ', and Mutsuhiro 'Bird' Watanabe played by Miyavi was superb as the diabolical prison commander.
