April is Tax Awareness Month, here in the Philippines. And today, April 15 is the last day of filing of income tax returns. Why we have to pay? Taxes are used as funds for government services and projects. It is where salaries of the government servants--public teachers and police officers. But, with all the corruption happening, and funds are nowhere to be found, some have become delinquent, and it is just ironic that they are the big companies and the small earners are the religious payers. With today's the last day, internal revenue offices are full of people (have seen the office here in the municipal building, and in the bank earlier, it is filled with tax payers. Ahh, these tax payers just loved the last day of filing eh. They don't seem to care or try to ignore their "responsibilities" or "obligations" to their community, and only think of the last day, and not before hand. Oh well... Will they ever pay their obligations in advance? Or they will be like as hard headed people?

This is why may is very important to vote for some one who could make changes into the country's corruption. it really pains you to pay more when the rich pay less and make fake SALN.

I think some does that since they have their salaries now to pay it . It's a good thing it's automatically deducted from our salaries and the office is the one paying them for us .

i wonder if'n 'tis like here'n the u.s.?? the more they owe, the more they seem to get outta payin' :( i've usually got ours done/filed by the first week'f february. alas, not so this year 'n i'm glad our filin' deadline was changed to the 18th'f april. gives me a few more days to stew. aint got nothin' to do with my "responsibilities" but unfair penalties fer not bein' able to afford the so called "affordable healthcare" we're required to've by law.

As an employee, I pay income tax automatically deducted from my salary. My friend at work and I were looking at our payslips lamenting our taxes and we proceeded to curse those accused/convicted of stealing people's money. I started with @*#*$&$&$ Napoles! We named politician after politician but eventually my friend cursed the director of BIR. I said BIR is not at fault as it is their job to collect taxes. Those who used our tax money for yachts and luxury cars are to blame. I wouldn't mind my high taxes of we had excellent benefits. I have to pay for private healthcare, insurance, and the like. In the future when I have children I will have to pay much for quality education. I don't mind paying taxes at all. I just wish I clearly see where the money goes.
