Happy memories but I was middle aged..........

Everyone is talking about their childhood memories which all seem to be so very happy so I thought I'd twist it up a little. To explain, as a child we moved so often that most memories were of mom trying to control my younger sibling while she was either packing, unpacking or worrying about when all her furniture and stuff would arrive. I am the eldest by 3 and a half years so I do recall poor moms dilemma. She didn't have it easy to say the least.
Now as for happy memories, well I have a ton of em. Mostly they're of my furbabies, they've provided me with ample photo ops but there are those rare occasions when I'd venture out of town for a day trip.
I'd bought a new car, one of those almost van type cars that Mazda produced in 2006 and decided why not take a trip to Ruidoso but rather than simply taking the straight shot to get there I went the route through Las Cruces which took me to I70. The whole southwest region had it's first flood like rains in recorded history that August and we were finally at the end of it all, it was late September.
Now I've been in White Sands park many times, usually it would be hot, sunny and dry but on this day although it was hot it was wet because it had just rained. The clouds on the horizon in this photo were actually moving northward after dumping a lotta rain in the park. I'd never seen pools of rain in White Sands before and naturally I just had to take pictures.
This picture is among the last ones that I took with my old 35mm Nikon camera, I actually had to trim the left side of it off because the camera had a leak and the light it let in ruined that end of it.
You know, I still miss that camera, it took the best landscape shots.
What is your favorite camera like?

Yes, it's sand but when there's a downpour it takes a while for the water to soak in @enlightenedpsych2 I just happened to be in the area before the water was all gone.

I am really impressed with the phone's camera. LOL I know that is horrible I should carry a camera around. It is just so much easier to carry a phone than a camera. To top it off I can call people and go on the internet when not using the camera. HAHAHA

@rebelann Honestly I use a tablet for the kids. It does everything a computer does and it has a camera too. LOL That's all my son was after besides youtube of course. LOL I use it sometimes and the only thing I wouldn't do on it is word docs. I have a keyboard for it but the screen is too small and it irritates me. LOL

Hummmm, that is a good point.
I'm lookin at the iPads n iPhones but so far I'm not as impressed with the megapixel they have for their cameras ..... I do like the idea of being able to download coupons and insurance id's on them though. They're not all that cheap either.

That's a lovely shot - the reflection makes it special.
It's good to write about happy memories - it doesn't matter when they happened.
I still haven't got round to getting my camera fixed - I might just get a new one like you suggested before.

Thank you
Oh how I hope you get a new one, the options are tremendous so you'll have a hard time choosing but may I suggest you make sure to get one that has a high Megapixel output? Mine takes shots at 24 megapixels which means if I get a really good shot than I can enlarge them to 8x10 without the photo looking too grainy.

So there isn't normally any water at all at that park? It looks so natural there and quite breathtaking actually. Thanks for sharing God's handiwork with the rest of us here.
I've never owned an expensive camera. The one I used to have was a Kodak, which was digital and my current one is a canon which I think I shared about on bubblews. I'll see if I can round up a photo otherwise I'll wait.

White Sands is in the same general region as I live in, it's mostly desert and rain is scarce. The trouble is that if it does rain it usually pours with heavy rain coming down fast and furious then when it's over there are puddles all over the place which does eventually seep into the ground but that can take a while depending on how much rain we get. This was the aftermath of one very heavy downpour.
My first camera was a Kodak, it used that cartridge film which was that 126 or 110 mm. Then mom bought me my first pro camera in 1980, she'd put it on layaway for my birthday but she didn't give it to me until Christmas, it cost her over 450 bucks and boy was I shocked and delighted when I got it.
Now I have digital but I miss the film cameras.

@rebelann I still say that doesn't look like much of a puddle. It looks more like a lake.
I've had many film camera's in my lifetime, too many to remember. The two I talked about above are my more recent ones. I understood the kodak one better, but I know that canon is a good product too.
Did you change your title because of what I said about age? Actually, I just remembered it was someone else's post where they discussed their age. I don't remember you having the ending phrase here before and I'm not sure where being middle aged comes into this topic?

No, I didn't change the title @MarshaMusselman the reason I commented that I was middle aged is because at the time I posted this everyone was writing about their wonderful childhood memories.

I watch the Today show visit White Sands National Park this week, I never heard of it before. It looked lovely and your photo is actually great with the reflection and that stark white sand.

I am so sorry it has taken me this long to answer this.
Thank you, I had one of those lucky days when it actually rained in the southwest. I haven't been back there since 2006 but maybe I will go when it gets cooler and schools back in session.

That photo is awesome! I have never seen anything like that. When my kids were small we couldn't afford printing phtos so I rarely took pictures, it was a cheap simple kodack. When i joined Gather.com years ago my husband and Son took me shopping to find a digital that I would like. I am still using it. It is perfect for what I do. I know its old but ......It is a Cannon and with the editing program on my computer I can do just about anything with my photos.

I have had many favorite cameras although I´m not a good photographer.
I remember the several rolls photos we took at Ciudad de Mexico. I was awed by the life at the Zócalo, the city´s square. That was with my Canon.
Now I have a digital camera that is getting old too.
