A Raccoon named Genius

I've mentioned that I have raccoon's out the wazoo here at my place and I had mentioned to @Marcyaz how they love to knock down the wind chimes that I have placed in my trees (they think they're toys). One time, my house got invaded by fire ants and managed to get into all the foods in the upper cabinets. Even the brand new products like boxes of cereal and a peanut butter jar. I rapidly grabbed a garbage bag unloading all the cabinets and took the bag out to my car and placed it into the back seat to throw away the next day. When I went out the next day and opened the drivers door, the interior of the car was a nightmare. The garbage bag was torn apart and ALL the items inside were all over the place. I had forgotten to roll up the window on the car and the raccoon's decided to investigate the bag. The one thing that really got to me was the fact that they had figured out how to open a new container of powdered cocoa. They dumped the majority of it on the driver's seat and then stepping into the powder, tracked it all over the interior of the car. The dash, console, other seats and the back window area. It was a nightmare to clean up along with all the fire ants that appreciated the free dinner that was everywhere. I imagine the leader of the raccoon's named Genius would be able to open a combination safe.

You ain't kiddin' @rebelann . Since there's 10 of them here now, I'm liable to wake up and find they drove the car off. With Genius at the wheel.

@rebelann Yeah, no kidding. Anything's possible with those guys. Now if they figure out how to open the front door, I'm in a world of doo-doo.

Oh no! What a mess that had to be! We have some raccoons out here, but we don't see them very often. We did have a family of them manage to get into the chicken coop about 3 years ago. They killed about 6 chickens before hubby heard all the noise and went to investigate. They had chewed a hole in the wire to get in, but then couldn't figure out how to get back out!

Raccoons, to me, are like Lenny & Squiggy from the old show Laverne & Shirley - they are like a street gang but since most of the members are a bit goofy, they aren't as much threatening as they are mischievous.

Those raccoons sound very resourceful, but what a nuisance.

They truly amaze me at what they can do @jaboUK . For people who think critters are stupid; they got another think coming.

@Nanette64 don't you just love those little animals, they are so cute. Next time roll the window up and see if they can open the door,...

They would probably stand on each other shoulder's to open the door @hostessman . Wouldn't that be a Youtube moment.

oh my! no doubt that was quite the mess indeed. raccoons're purty handy 't gettin' into mischief, particularly if'n they believe there's food involved. i've watched 'em spend several days actually, figurin' out how to get a chain off a garbage can lid. yepperz, they mastered such - they're quite crafty critters.

It would be nice if we could keep all these critters away from our space-but we are in their space here.
