I read about a geodesic dome on a blog on yahoo somewhere when looking for affordable housing. The dome costs about 1,000 dollars and is energy efficient. That's my price range!! Sounds like housing of the future and really fun, unique and interesting too. How about buying a dome instead of house?

I can't imagine it's easy to get curtains or furniture for a geodesic dome. And it must take forever to clean the windows.

Now that's something to think about.

For $1,000.00 -- do you blow it up? I can't see how it could be otherwise, for that kind of money. I would probably prefer a micro-house. I think that, too, is a trend.

A Micro house is cool too. At around $1,000 I think it could have been an earth house made of earth bags. Those houses are very cheap and look cool with organic plaster on them. Now that's what I'm talkin' about.

I assume that you need to have a piece of land to put the dome on. I think I will stick to my house but it does sound affordable.

No, I love my house. It's as energy efficient as we like.

A thousand dollars doesn't sound like you'd be getting much. I just had a look at them and they are quite nice. I wouldn't mind having one.

I wouldn't mind that at all! There are so many alternatives for living these days and I wouldn't turn my nose up at any of them until I tried them. :)
