Here I am, 63, and I've just made my first successful attempt at jam drops and they turned out (yumm). I've previously tried to make biscuits but they turned out soggy. What? What's that you're saying? They don't look turned out? Yes, I know they LOOK like the dogs breakfast but truly, they taste nice. The recipe said to make balls as big as a walnut then make an indentation for the jam. I did try to do it but it was difficult, let me tell you. Ho hum, gotta go clean up now.

What I really like about them is they are kind of crunchy and not too sweet. I used raw sugar.

@MsTickle There was a similar pastry I enjoyed when growing up, one type looked like your picture, the other variant had an almond on the top instead of a dollop of jam (or jelly) - perhaps this will help boost your confidence the next time you're baking:
Sweet, aromatic, naturally gluten-free and dairy-free, you only need 5 ingredients and 20 mins to make these traditional almond cookies from Malta.

@pgntwo they look and sound really good. I also like the idea of putting a jelly sweet on top. Thanks for that.

These look okay to me. I've made jam tarts from time to time but not jam drops like these so I haven't had a 'first time' making these yet.

@JudyEv I tried but the mixture was really sticky. I would have loved more jam. have you ever made your own jam?

It was hard making the dent for the jam. The recipe said strawberry but I used raspberry. Yum.

@MsTickle I'd be trying to make a big dent to put lots of jam in. I always overfill my jam tarts when I make them.

Care to share? I don't judge the taste of the food on how it looks.

Surely , you really know how to bake , that's why you were able to make them . You see, i don't know how to bake , yet i would like to learn some simple ones wherein you just place them in an over toaster and in a while they will be made already .

I am not a baker of cakes and biscuits. I know how to turn on my oven but I need an easy recipe for instructions. Some people think nothing of baking all day and they are very good at it.

@SIMPLYD jam drops are a very well know biscuit in Australia. It was easy enough to do but time consuming.

LOL well I am not sure if that is what they are supposed to look like but if you say they are good then I believe you. A lot of times things are better tasting then they appear.

"Balls the size of a walnut" Is that so you can pop it in your mouth in one go? Just asking!

They flattened out but yes, gone in one go. It's a generic size I'd say.
