Random Word Post – variola

I find a random word by flipping through my 2003 The New Webster’s Concise Dictionary and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # “variola – Smallpox. From the Latin varius, speckled.” I don’t know much about smallpox, but speckled is not the first thing that comes to mind. I usually think of deadly and eradicated.

I agree with you. But it did not get erradicated too long ago in some places.
