It's Oh So Quiet

Don't you just hate those mornings when you're roused from your sleep having your face licked by something that wouldn't look out of place in a Salvador Dali and someone has super-glued your lips together? As the wet tongue of the bizarre mutant slowly lifted the fog of slumber I began to realise I wasn't in a deleted scene from the latest Mad Max movie. The unearthly creature was no more than the result of an over-enthusiastic grooming session which has left Hugo the dog looking like the average UK family's dream Sunday roast, namely an oven ready chicken with four legs. The substance clamping my lips together was merely the dried blood resulting from the fore-arm I took to the face during my weekly youth re-visiting session (or 5-a-side football as it's more commonly known). It's left me looking like I have Donald Duck perched atop a not too distant branch of the WorDazza family tree and the sneaking suspicion I might have a broken nose. This is all good news for Mrs WorDazza and my work colleagues as it is quite painful to even speak. Unfortunately for youLot (see what I did there?) my fingers are still in perfectly good working order!!!

Ouch, a broken nose must be painful, have you seen your doctor? At least your fingers are safe.

If I'd looked like Brad Pitt before the incident then I might consider going to the doctors and seeing about getting it sorted. To be honest it doesn't look any worse than it did. Quite often, unless your nose has been spread to the four corners of your face, they won't do anything anyway!!

@WorDazza LOL ouch. Shame they can't do anything. Hopefully it will just sort itself out with time.

@WorDazza Don't you end up with a crooked nose once it's been broken? You'll have to be cross-eyed so you can look down your nose.

@WorDazza your title makes me think of the Bjork / Betty Hutton song It's Oh So Quiet

It was at the time but by this morning it was only hurting when I tried to speak or when I laughed. It's actually improved an awful lot throughout the day. The swelling has gone down quite a bit so I'm starting to look a bit more like me again!

@arthurchappell That's exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote it. I thought it was an apt title as I would probably be operating at a much lower volume than usual today!!!

Very clever you Lotting. I'm trying to come up with something clever back but nothing is coming to mind. Except maybe - there's no nose like a broken nose.

LOL!!!! If my alarm doesn't wake me, my cat pouncing on top of my body surely does. Sometimes she thinks I've forgotten to wake up and feed her! :D

We leave our cats downstairs for that very reason. At least the dog waits for the alarm to go off before he pounces!!

@CRK109 I don't think it's broken. It's still very sore right at the point it joins just above my upper lip. I suspect it's more likely bruising to the cartilage and bone in that area. Thanks for your concern though!! More than I'm getting from friends and family. The general consensus from them is that I'm too old to be playing football.

@WorDazza LOL!!!! Dogs do seem to be more understanding of humans. Cats only consider their own needs. :) But I guess I like it that way. How's your nose? Is it really broken? I hope you're okay!

I'm much better today thanks. Rather than looking freakishly damaged I now just look like I've had collagen injections in my lips!!! All of the women at work are quite jealous. I've offered to give them the same treatment I had but strangely enough I've not had any takers!!!

To be fair it was a total accident. I've always been worried about breaking my leg and not being able to get to work. Seems like I was concerned for completely the wrong end of my body!!

You didn't go have your injuries checked out? Typical male. Why not wait until seeking medical attention is the last resort? Why not wait until fixing the problems is more complicated? Sure. Don't take care of problems why they are small, by all means, wait. See what I did there?

Oh I see! It's one of the senses that remains unimpaired by my injuries!!! I don't see the point in wasting my time visiting doctors for such trivialities. My teeth are intact and my nose is only slightly more bent than it was. No real harm done!!! I'll probably do more serious damage to my backside sitting for hours on end in hospital waiting rooms.
