Free Lunch

I always said that there is no such thing as free lunch but then again sometimes there is one. Yesterday afternoon a good friend of mine dropped by to bring lunch. She had called earlier and asked if I had plans for the day. I wanted to just stay home and just chill the whole day but I figured some company won't be bad so I said that I didn't have plans. She sounded genuinely happy that she'll be doing me this favor. This was a definite smh moment for me. So I had cleaned up the place and tidied up a bit as I don't want her seeing such a mess.
So lunch time came and here was my friend. She had brought three meals that she cooked herself. She contemplated on bringing just the ingredients and cooking the meals here at home. Good thing she just brought the cooked meals. Cleaning up can be such a pain. LOL!
Anyway, she brought cheese burger sliders, vegetable spring rolls, and mashed potatoes. The sliders were delicious!!! The burger was juicy and the cheese was gooey. The vegetable spring rolls were tasty and filling. I wasn't a fan of the mashed potatoes but I had a little so as not to make my friend feel bad. LOL!
The meal was good and the company and small talk was better. As we were about to finish, my friend asked if I could accompany her to the mall as she will be upgrading her wardrobe. I knew it! There was a catch to this meal! It wasn't a free lunch after all!!!
Good thing I didn't liked the lunch that much!!! It was easy for me to politely decline. I just offered that she can leave her food containers with me and I'll clean it up and return it to one of these days.
Her pleading eyes didn't work and soon she was in her way to the mall. I thanked her for the 'free lunch' and I said I'll return the favor some other time.

Bribe - that was the word I was looking for!
Yes, it was clearly a bribe and yes, it wasn't enough for me to leave the comfort of my home.

That's was nice of her to bring you lunch. Though the curious question like you is why mashed potato's? The rest was finger food. French fries would of been a better fit if she wanted to include a potato.

I appreciate the gesture and it was really nice of her to prepare the meal and bring it to my place. However, I can't help but think that she did that to ask a favor from me.

The company is great, the lunch good. Being left alone for my 'me' time is priceless though!
Hence, my reservations about joining her to the mall.

The veggie spring rolls was my least favorite but they were tasty. I just wasn't in the mood for veggie spring rolls on that day.

I got a free hamburger patty with avocado on Thursday because my friend eating with me in the teachers' room got full and didn't want it. I happily obliged by eating it for her.
