A Brown Bird is Calling

I was thinking about a poem that I memorized as a child and just took time to look it up and share it here today.
I Meant To Do My Work Today
by Richard LeGallienne
I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.
And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand,
So what could I do but laugh and go?
That's the way I feel today. I had plans to do a lot this morning, but the weather is so nice, I am just going to do what little cleaning I can get by with, and then go out and enjoy the sunshine.
I hope everyone has a great Saturday, and a wonderful weekend. Take time to go to church tomorrow and worship the Lord.

I think this time of year has that affect on most of us, we don't want to work we want to be outside enjoying.

Yes I enjoyed it very much. I am sure this week will go fast and then we will be into May, and I am looking forward to going away for a few days

That's a cute and upbeat little poem. I didn't get much done except for work part of the afternoon. Everyone has to take their turn, and this was mine. But its a cool day today and I didn't mind working, in fact, when they asked if I'd like to leave early, I turned them down.

I love that poem and would love to memorize it as it is so whimsical and also acts as great excuse for enjoying the world.

perfectly good reason not to do the chores - hope I see a brown bird before I have to scrub out the dishwasher

I am glad I picked up a few groceries yesterday, so didn't have to do that today.

I love the poem, sometimes we just have to chase butterflies.
