The Animals Have Taken Over

United States

When we started out it was just the dog and two cats, one outdoors and the other indoors. Seven years later and there's one parrot, one dog, three cats, a rabbit, and a rat. For those out there bad at math it's seven lovely animals. No more silence in the house. Ever. When I talk to people about pets it's usually one dog that they have or maybe a couple cats. They don't expect me to be able to list of pets like it's the seven dwarves. But I can't be the only one with a lot of pets. Who else out there has a mini zoo in their house?

You sound like me. I now only have two cats, but I used to have four cats plus two I was taking care of for other people, plus one dog, and the neighbors' kids came over to give me a kitten who had been dumped in the park-- their parents said they couldn't keep it because they had a dog, and they know I like cats. So, they have one dog, I have lots more animals. Of course I took the kitten.

We adopted my dog from his old family because they were moving and my dad brought home a kitten because the mom had abandoned them at his job (roadside construction). So we bottle fed her Didn't matter that we already had four animals.

't one time, i'd o'er 300 head'f cattle, 23 horses, 9 pups, too many cats to count'n o'er a hundred fish'n the pond. now 'tis jest 7 horses, 3 pups 'n a cat. i adore critters 'n prefer'em to humans myself - they're more honest.

I absolutely love horses, but unfortunately I'm extremely allergic. I suppose that's a good thing though, because if I wasn't I'd be getting a few.

I sure do also. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and I watch a friends dog in the daytime while she is working.

I am so not a pet person, so we don't have pets, I do enjoy my kids dog and my sisters dogs however, I just don't have to feed and clean up after them.

We use to have a cat that passed away, but lived a long life. My nephew has a lot of animals, but he is a vet. He has snakes, dogs, cats, and different types of birds.

You seem to be an awesome human being, for taking care of animals (these many) isn't something many would agree to do. I love animals and I plan to have that mini zoo someday too! You are an inspiration.

A mini zoo isn't easy. Gotta get used to the idea that silence is suspicious.
