Well drat

The high school concert went well, except I didn't play as well as I did during rehearsal. That is disappointing. This often happens because I get distracted by the movement in the audience and other stuff. But fortunately I have played enough that I can usually keep things going and if people didn't actually know the piece they wouldn't know that I'd messed up. But everybody pretty much knows when you mess up the Hallelujah Chorus. Oh well. I hope they were just listening to the choir and not to me! Do you notice mistakes in the accompaniment when you are listening to concerts? Do you even notice there is an accompaniment? I think a lot of people just hear the performers on stage and don't notice the accompaniment any more than they notice the color of the background. And tonight I kind of hope that is true!

A simple.movement can really be distracting. Some will...but some won't ;)

No I don't. I think it's because I'm not a musician and I don't know when anybody makes a mistake. I don't play any musical instrument at all.

I notice the accompaniment. It can make a big difference.

Part of my job is accompanying high school choir and Chamber Singers (high school select choral group.) Someone else teaches them. I teach and therefore conduct elementary amd middle school and another teacher accompanies.

How disappointing after all the work you must have put in. We rarely pick up mistakes at concerts although we've both played and sung quite a bit in groups and do tend to be able to hear 'parts' other than just the melody.

I am sure no one else noticed it. I go to a lot of Gospel Concerts and I love to watch the piano player, but I wouldn't know if he messed up on the music or not.
