Two Comedies and Supper

Last night we went to the little local theatre to watch two one-act comedy plays. It was a 'supper night' so between the two plays we were served a very pleasant supper with tea or coffee. One of the plays last night presumed God was a woman. This made for some very funny jokes although it wouldn't be to everyone's taste. In July there will be a Christmas in July Murder Mystery night complete with a three-course meal. We and our friends have already booked our tickets for that. Tickets well quickly as the theatre does not hold many people. You can see from the photo that it is an intimate setting.

These sound very entertaining, and it's a great setting. I like live theater. Last weekend, I saw a stage version of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

Live theatre is always interesting. These are all local actors - a bus driver, check-out girl, counsellor, building inspector, for starters - but they all do a great job.

@puddleglum Yes, they would have. It is like a big happy family. The lady who owns the theatre was in the play; a good friend and his mate do the sets; her husband looks after the parking, etc etc.

It was good fun. We knew many of the people there. During the interval they had a few games which went down well too.

I haven't tried to watch a comedy play in a very decent restaurant. The only thing I can remember is to have an entertainment in comedy bar. I bet you did a great laugh during that time.

I envy you these opportunities! It's a long time since I've lived anywhere that still has one act plays. In my younger days I used to actually act in them myself

We were both in musical comedy but many years ago - before we were married. A friend and I co-wrote and directed a couple of plays here and they was great fun too. In bigger places you never get that opportunity.

It sounds like you had a very pleasant evening. I like the intimacy of the setting for the theater. We have a community theater here that I went to only once, unfortunately as I really enjoyed it, but I haven't had the time or money since to go It too has limited seating. It isn't a dinner theater, but the performers did a great job.

@just4him Once again I've missed out the 'not' and changed the meaning completely. I keeping doing this and it's driving me crazy. Can instead of can't; do instead of don't. The tickets are very reasonable is what I wanted to say!!

Luckily the tickets are too bad here as it a small, mostly aged community. All the actors were local and they are very talented.

I love those murder mystery shows! I've been to a few and they are always so much fun! My nephew is in a theater group at a very small theater locally and I love going to see their plays whenever I have a few dollars for admission. Live theater is something I've always enjoyed very much!

@JudyEv I love that kind of theatre when my children were young I took them to a local pantomime at Christmas time. Their enjoyment and mine was greatly increased when we recognised some of the characters in the Panto.

@maggs224 People can change character completely when they're dressed up, can't they? Some people who seem very retiring just blossom on the stage.

I would much rather see a comedy than a drama. The locals do a really good job and it isn't too expensive. We went with friends and had another 'supper' when we dropped them off then went home.
