No cat for me thanks.

Last year my neighbour went on holiday and I looked after her indoor pot plants. When she got home she was delighted with how well I had looked after the plants , and she brought me a pot plant to say `thank you'. This year she wants me to look after her cat. I hope she does not buy me a cat to say `thanks'.

Just make it clear that you do not want a cat, just in case she things you would appreciate.

@millie02 Yes, it's better than you mention it, you never know what people believe you like or not.

That's funny. Maybe she could give you a stuffed cat toy. Then, it wouldn't need food or a litter box. It's great that you're such a considerate neighbour.

Wouldn't that be funny? Maybe she'll want you to look after her car! That would be pretty cool. :)

I think you were so gentle in everything. You did a great job of taking good care of something. I wish I could have another cat.

You may be surprised by the effect that cat has on you. You may want one after a week or two of purring fur around your ankles. Have fun. Plants are a lot easier but they lack the personal touch of a cat.

@millie02 Some people use plants for recreational purposes aka "fun". Not me though. Because I'm not fun.

Luckily moggies seem to get by without heroic efforts to look after them. Both of mine are fast asleep in the sun, this morning

Maybe she knows you don't like a cat, or just tell her so she won't give one to you.

I am not one of those people who are good with plants, it seems that no matter what I do they seem to die on me. Only plants that thrive on neglect seem to stay around for a while :(
