What is a Pluviophile?

I saw this word mentioned this morning, had never heard it before, and was interested in the definition. "A lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days." I don't mind a rainy day now and again, but I would rather stay inside on those days than be out in it. We are having sunshine today, but we are supposed to get rain tomorrow. I know we need it to make the flowers and grass grow, so will be happy to see it. Many years ago, my family and I spent a year in BC, and in the winter it seemed it rained every day. I remember taking my baby out for a walk almost every day even though it was raining, because I did not want to stay in the apartment all the time. How about you? Do you love rain, or just put up with it?

I saw that same word this morning, too. Lol! It rained during the night, but I woke up to sunshine. I like a rainy day once in awhile, but prefer the sun.

I live in the desert so I naturally love it IF we ever get any. I don't know if I'd feel the same if I lived in any of those areas that get more than their fair share though.

I am a pluviophile and didn't even know it. I do love the rain. Not when it goes on and on and on for days, but, a nice spring rain is nice and enjoyable to me.

I knew what the word meant as the word for rain in French is "pluie".

moisture'f any kind's sorta rare'n these parts. i love the rain, love to be out'n 't when there's no thunder. one'f my simple pleasures's to close my eyes'n listen 's the drops fall 'pon the tin roof.

@AnneEJ we'd a slow drizzle saturday off/on (more off than on, but was grand!). sunday was jest bitter cold 'n windy. thankfully the sun's shinin' today 'n the winds're livable.

I think I am a pluviophile. I feel so relaxed when it rains. I like listening the raindrops on the roof of my house.

I do not mind the rain, but I don't like it when there is wind with it and it comes down sideways, otherwise I can see the good in it.

I don't mind a gentle rain either, but hate when it it is accompanied by wind. I don't like driving when it is raining, especially at night.

I love a gentle rain, not a strong one. My husband and I love to have coffee in the morning looking out at the garden in the rain.

A gentle rain is nice. It's the heavy rain or thunder storms that I don't like.

I guess mostly I put with it but I do know how essential it is. If we look like having a drought here, I am always pleased to see the rain eventually.

Maybe I prefer the time of the rainy season, the air was cool and airy. In comparison to when the long dry season. The weather was so hot at all, and we are also difficult to get clean water.

Gentle rain is nice. I don't like it when it is raining hard, and when the wind is blowing.
