Month Almost Over May Day Tomorrow

Does anyone remember May day Picking wild flowers to make a May Basket We hung them on the door knobs of elderly Rang the bell then hide to see someone come. I am not sure if this was just our custom back then South Dakota in t he thirties and forties? But we made little baskets woven paper stri;ps Colorful then filled with fern and wild flowers. We usually chose older people to delight them Hung the basket on a door knob knocked then ran We stayed close b y saw them be s urprised Some even had tears in their e yes.

That is so sweet. Yes, we had it here too. I went May day picking one year as a kid and gave the flowers to my mother.

being in south dakota there were not a l ot of wild flowerw but we found some white may flowers and purple crocuses the state flower by the way.

I do appreciate this tradition in your place. You give and recognize the importance of those oldies whom their own families themselves have forgotten them. I remember why I name my latest blog, serendipity which means a pleasant surprises.
