Hi Mylot Friends, Anandiben a BJP chief minister of Gujarat state announces ten percent reservation in education and job for poor people in Forward castes(non reserved casts). This is announced by her on the occasion of Gujarat Divas this reservation will amend from !st May means from today. Hats of to the Chief minister considering poor people in forward casts

I don't understand the term 'forward caste'. What does it mean?

There are several casts in India Brahmin, Vysya, Reddy, etc etc are forward casts, Mala, Madiga, tribals are back ward casts.

@yugasini Sorry, but I'm not any the wiser now. What does forward or backward cast mean? Can you please explain this to a European who knows nothing about India's caste system except that officially it doesn't exist anymore?
