Chores and me.

Why would i have to do it? Why should.i learn.how to.do it? Almost a domestic goddess. Grow up with our grandfather. Me and my brother weren't spoiled, we have to learn how to do thing, i mean just the basic--cooking rice and washing the dishes. Yeah, we enjoyed.being a.kid and doing chores. When our grandfather died, an addition to the chores is doing laundry. Our mother have to earn to help our father. At the age of 14, i am ironing clothes. From my uniform to my sisters (younger ones), ahh, those pleats and even our father's. Not just that, my father made me cook the first.dish that is not fried. Lol. And he continued teaching me more. Cleaning, cooking, ironing and doing the laundry--i was quite complaining why i have to learn those when i was younger, but as i look back, i am grateful. Because if not, iwould be wasting.money hiring.to do chores for me. Lol. Comparing with the young ones of this generation, where some prefer to spend their time on their social media accounts, i am blessed. I can live without worrying on doing this and that. Though.some.can check youtube. Lol Just the baking i have to learn. Haha What have beem happening.to.me.if i.wasn't taught.on those.simple.chores?

i believe all young'uns ought to know how to do the "basics" 'n 'tis their parents responsibility to teach 'em such. i consider'em 'gifts' versus chores. :D

I am also glad that I know how to do those chores. But when I am at home, it's usually my mother who does the chores. I also help her sometimes and I also do those chores when she is not around.

@Lucky15 You'd be battling to hire people over here. I don't think there are too many who have maids. Some might have a cleaner for a day a week/fortnight but that's about it.

I do a lot of chores myself since I'm living on my own. Doing and completing chores has its own sense of gratification.

Do you really need to be taught those things? Perhaps cooking, but the rest is common sense and practice. I'm grateful to my mother for not making me do those things - time enough for those when we leave home.

I also learned doing chores at young age, I think I was 8 years then, even if we have house helpers around, my Mom taught us on how to do this and I'm very thankful that I was thought to do it. I know, you're thankful to your grandfather of teaching you to do the chores, right?

You're lucky to know all the chores. I agree that young generation don't dare to do the chores, and that includes my daughters..Huhuhu. I do all the house chores while they are busy with their gadgets. Well, my daughters said, they don't have to worry for they will work hard so that they can afford to hire house helpers.

It is a blessing that they taught you household chores, though many young people today are quite lazy to do those things and depend on their parents or house helpers.

When I was young until today, we had helpers at my parents' place. Notwithstanding the presence of the househelps, I still washed & ironed my own clothes, washed my own dishes, cleaned my room, etc. I'm impatient when it comes to chores. If I let others do it or if I let the washing machine wash my clothes, it will take time. I don't want to waste man hours. Better if I do things on my own, it would be faster and I trust myself more than others when it comes to chores.

My mother went to work at a dress shop when I was 10. My job was to cook dinner on Thursday night, when she worked late. I made eggs for my father and two brothers, washed the dishes, and did my homework. Lol!
