Another hit off the "Cosmo's Factory" album, "Who'll Stop the Rain" made it to number two in the charts despite being one of Fogerty's most somber and thought provoking efforts. As with "Run Through the Jungle" and "Fortunate Son," it was widely assumed "Who'll Stop the Rain" concerned the Vietnam War. Apparently, the song is Fogerty's rumination on the ills of mankind and that neither the governing establishment nor flower power children can solve them. This is more acoustic folk rock CCR and Fogerty sounds mournful. Robert Stone's acclaimed novel "Dog Soldiers" was adapted into a 1978 movie starring Nick Nolte retitled "Who'll Stop the Rain" after the song which plays on the soundtrack.

I like the CCR too. I don't know that their song "Who'll Stop the Rain" referred to the Vietnam War. Thanks for the trivia.
