I am not throwing in the towel just yet....

....and I don't mean that in a bad way. Sometimes you just have to hang in. I have been coughing for a month, coughing and blowing my nose and not sleeping well. There were days I was ready to say 'stick me in the ground' but then I remembered I want to be cremated when the time comes. There is hope - the last few days the coughing has lessened quite a bit, the nose isn't stuffy or runny and I have learned to sleep sitting up in bed. I have actually gone out into the world a little and it felt good. Today we went to the grocery store and I enjoyed it LOL! I do have a doc appointment tomorrow and I'll have to see if he agrees with my assessment that the bronchitis turned into seasonal allergies and that I will live! A few years ago I got really sick with the flu, and although I seemed to get better from most of my symptoms, I couldn't shake the coughing. Over a period of weeks, the coughing kept getting worse and worse, and nothing the doctor kept prescribing would help in any way. Every time I went into a coughing fit, I literally thought I was going to die. After about six weeks of being convinced I was dying, the cough finally let up and I got better. It was really scary, considering my doctor could find no traces of bronchitis or pneumonia. I guess I just had a freak illness or something!

@moffittjc I have had seasonal allergies before, but never this bad. The pollen count has dropped but it's still higher than normal.

I have had bouts of bronchitis where I coughed for weeks and begged someone to put me out of my misery! Doc yest. agreed it's now allergies...Said to stay inside as much as possible until the pollen finishes.

@AbbyGreenhill I think my spring allergies are stopping to rear its ugly head...my eyes have been itchy and watery for the past couple of days. I'm waiting for the sneezing, sniffling, coughing, aching and other symptoms of hay fever to start kicking in soon. Thankfully, it doesn't last too long when I do get my spring allergies, but while I have them I'm miserable.

@AbbyGreenhill I have also an allergy to pollen, but I cannot antihistamines due to my glaucoma problem. Every time that I work in the garden I have watery eyes and I sneeze all the day.

The doc agrees - he told me what to take, all over the counter stuff and to stay inside as much as possible until the pollen is finished. I had a good night, slept 6 hours!

Allergies trigger all sorts of infections. Keeping them under control really helps us stay healthy.

@AbbyGreenhill I use Flonase daily, but sometimes the little bits of allergens make it past my defenses. Bummer.

You know, I don't know anyone who is NOT sniffling and sneezing and just feeling yukky these days. I'm having my share, too. When I lived in the house, I thought it was the carpeting getting to me. But now I'm in the new place with no carpets and I'm still sneezing and sniffling. So, I take a sinus pill occasionally and keep the bedroom as cool as I can for better sleeping. It's not perfect by any means but once I get my air conditioner, I'm sure all of this will cease! :)

I have to put the A/C on and it helps (even tho I freeze my husband out!). So many people are suffering with pollen - people I know who never get sick are bothered by it.

@AbbyGreenhill I've heard that this is one of the worst years so far. I know that I was doing very well coming out of winter and then suddenly the headaches began and my nose was stuffed one minute and running the next and I haven't been the same.

I've been sick for a month and it started with bronchitis. I never had such a stuffy nose with it, so I associate that with allergies.

It's that time of year when it's hard to tell the difference between actual illness and allergies. Hope yours are just allergies at this point but glad you'll be seeing the doctor
