Everything was going smoothly. I was watching a video. Then, suddenly! We lost power. Then? Then we heard pounding noises. Sleet. No! Hail! And not ordinary hail. Hail that was nickel sized. Did I say nickel? Try quarter. Did I say quarter? Try 50 cents. DID I SAY 50 CENTS? Try ***dollar sized.*** You heard me right. Not many of them, but a few of them. Yes, there was dollar sized hail. One reference states, Severe thunderstorms can generate hail the size of eggs or even grapefruit. An unusually large hailstone picked up after a storm in Kansas (U.S.A.) on September 3, 1970, measured some 15 cm (6 in.) across. I am using a photo from our outburst.

Yes. We mostly worry about losing power. That may sound silly, but I depend upon having power for my breathing apparatus. Besides, we are online a fair amount!

@KuznVinny Do you have a generator in the house, in case you lose power? What would you do for your breathing apparatus?

@marlina Some day I hope to. However, that takes money. If you know someone willing to send me some, please let me know.

If it is not good for electric lines it is worse for fruit trees and vineyards in this season. I have seen hailstones like the one on your photo only once. Sadly my car was parked outdoors.

@KuznVinny To be covered it needs to be specified in your insurance, and it was not in mine which was a cheap insurance covering only damages to or from identified vehicles.

Yes, dents. And I'm not positive insurance covers it. Since they can't blame anything else for it, they blame God.

My wife was out driving it at the time. Fortunately, where she was it wasn't hailing!
