How do you beat the summer heat?

Every summer time, people choose to beat the heat by going to the beach or to any private pool to refresh themselves. Some just drive to Baguio or Tagaytay in search of cool air. It is obviously that Resorts are always full during the hot seasons and cold places like Baguio and Tagaytay are full of people whose aim is to seek comfort away from the intense heat of the city. How about those who cannot go downtown or could not afford to join swimming? For us, it will not be easy as we are having our house renovation since the month of April. It needs to be finished soon so to beat the summer heat, we just satisfy ourselves eating something cold like ice cream. How is your summer? How do you beat the intense heat?

@acelawrites I admire the rivers in the province. It is very clear that you can also see the bottom.

Just drinking plenty of water. Watering the plants also keep me cool because when the wind blows, the breeze is cool because of the water I'm spraying on the plants :)

Yes, drinking water helps a lot because we are losing much liquid out of our body in the form of perspiration. DO you have many plants at home?

I switch on the air con at night, and during the day if I am home. i take shower three times a day too. When it is very hot in the day, the water will be warm, so taking a shower is not a nice experience. I will add some ice to the water to make the water cold. Then I take a cold shower.

When I am also washing the dishes, the water is hot. Mom said it is because our faucet is expose to the sun. I also love staying in the bathroom all day enjoying the water during hot summer season.

@annierose If you add some ice to the water before you shower, you will enjoy a cold shower even more.

I only have a short time to really enjoy this summer and we went to a cold spring, i think it was last week. We usually stay in the office where it's cold and then in the car when we have to visit a site. When I'm home, i turn on the AC too.

I love ice cream very much and buco and fruit salad as well. Eating ice cream while in front of the electric fan will be my way to escape the burning feeling brought by the summer season.

I like that idea. If I do not have anything to do, I can stay whole day in my room with a book or doing mylotting. It will make me just ignore the weather.

Besides using fan and air-conditioner, eating ice-cream and drinking soda, there is no other better way. Sometimes we will go to have a swim in the weekend.

That is good that you are able to do a variety of activities. It won't create boredom.

A little late this time of year, summer is. My favorite hangout, if not in my air-conditioned room, is by the creek side at the back of the house, under the canopy of full grown mahogany trees with the cool breeze from the sea a few hundred meters away. I use to bring my laptop to work there or just a pair of binoculars spotting anything on the dry fields beyond or just sitting down and getting drowsy as the minutes pass by. No one around except the twittering of the sparrows or the occasional mourning call of a mountain dove far above among the branches for company. It cannot get cooler than that.

@rog0322 Wow, thanks for sharing yours here. This post is timely for this time of the year. The heat is getting intense again. I love to stay in the office too with the aircon. When I get into the class, I can feel the scorching heat plus the students' noise. So much of a sacrifice.

We are lucky enough to have cooler temperatures compared to Metro Manila; but it is still hot, so I take a bath two to three times a day and had electric fans on.

My children and I went to Hundred Islands last April 10. We enjoyed our island hopping even if the sun's heat is somewhat intense. Then this coming week, we're going to our hometown and spend 5 days there. Go swimming and enjoy the foods that we used to eat before.

@annierose ...Agree.. Enjoy life as we can, right? But the intense heat is sometimes difficult to beat. We need to drink lots of water and take a bath everyday or even twice , thrice a day to cool ourselves.
