We remain in Jamaica for #3 in my Top 10 Favorite Reggae Songs series, with my favorite reggae band, Black Uhuru (Swahili for "freedom.)
Black Uhuru is a Grammy-winning reggae band led by vocalist Duckie Simpson, the group's only constant.
"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" Is the title track from their 1983 album, which is actually a reissue of 1980's record Black Uhuru.
"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" is performed by the classic, most successful lineup:
Simpson, vocalist Michael Rose, vocalist Puma Jones, drummer Sly Dunbar, and bassist Robbie Shakespeare.
"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" is a top-notch roots tune, one that definitely should be in your reggae collection (provided you have one, of course.)
Recorded in Kingston,JA 12"single,B-side of "Sinsemilla," released 1980 Produced and arranged by Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespear

That's right, there was a movie. I'd forgotten all about it.

I find this song rather moody without that bouncy reggae beat.

The next two are also roots. You might feel the same about those.
