Don't jump off a bridge or anything

I went to the doctors yesterday for my regular visit. I have to go every month to get a refill on my anti-depressant and mood stabilizing medicine. He came in and said the same thing he has said to be every month lol. He said "doing okay? They seem to be working pretty well for you? Not planning on jumping off a bridge or anything?" Even if I felt like jumping off a bridge at times I would never do it because of my children. I told him that people probably wouldn't admit it if they were planning to jump off a bridge. He said oh man don't be making an old guy worry like that haha.

Wow, great bedside manner doc! I would say it is time to find a new doctor. Mine is what my husband calls "a find it on the internet doctor." She will listen to your symptoms while she is on her laptop typing away. Then she will leave and return with printed material fresh off the printer and site she found it on. Yeah, time for a new doctor. Just hard to find one that is suitable.

@shaggin she has been in practice for many years. It seems she is more about the money than with healing.

@ElusiveButterfly Wow well I can honestly say I have met doctors similar who just do not really seem to care. I used to hate a woman who worked at the doctors office I go to. After my daughter was born I nursed her and I got down to about 90 pounds. I went there for advice on what to do as I was worried I was so skinny. She asked me why I was here and she said well its obvious your anorexic. I said no I'm not.. she said bulimic then. I was furious. I went there for help on what I could do to keep some weight on myself. Why would I go to see help if I was doing it on purpose. After that I just ate lots of candy bars and stayed at about 100 pounds. Not very healthy but whatever it worked.

Oh wow I am very surprised at the way your doctor does things. I have had doctors leave the room and go look things up and come back and discuss it but I have never had one sit there typing the symptoms in and then printing out material basically showing they didn't know the answer so they had to look it up. I wouldn't feel like I was dealing with a very well educated doctor with that.

I am glad that you are able to be strong enough for him. My children give me reasons to stay alive. Without them I never would have lasted this long. I cannot imagine my life without them. I am so thankful to have them. I love them so much.

@shaggin we are so happy to be parents. We are blessed with wonderful children and the best we could do for them is to be there for them.

Yes I am so thankful to have my children. I like the doctor too. There are a lot of people I know who don't but I think it is that way with any doctor there are always those who are very critical.

That is shocking that the doctor would say that to you.

He has said it to me every month. I really didn't think anything of it. I just say no and that the medicines work pretty well.

LOL well that is a plus that you can think logically about what would happen if you tried and failed.

We make light of situations that make us uncomfortable. All I can hope is that he doesn't say stuff like that to the wrong person.

That is true some people might take it the wrong way. He said he asks the same thing to all his patients.

I completely agree with you, most people don't bring attention to themselves those who do want attention. I know my doctor has this kind of humor one time I said does anyone get offended but what you say. He's now barely talks to me .
