A Family Weekend

Tomorrow is the First Communion of my granddaughter Syd. It is at 10 a.m. in the morning. We will all be attending. After the Mass there will be a reception at the church but our family is going to a local restaurant for lunch. My son and daughter-in-law decided it would be less stressful to just have a gathering at this restaurant rather than having it at their house and catering it.
Just our immediate family is a large group and then there is my daughter-in-laws side of the family.
On Sunday of course it is Mother's Day. We will be going to church and then going to another restaurant to celebrate my day and that of my daughter in laws and my daughter who are also all mothers. My daughter jokingly said "Isn't that too much family time" lol 2 days in a row!!
As a mother I can honestly say, there is never too much family time!! How about you, is this a family weekend?

@kevin1877uk The teens years are a trial no matter what and most teens prefer not to be seen with their parents or parent!!

No family here for me to celebrate anything with. But it's okay. I have memories and I'll be going through photo albums and remembering better days. Enjoy this wonderful weekend! God bless your granddaughter! I used to run the First Communion ceremonies at our church and oh, how I miss those days! :)

I can't wait to see her all decked out in her finery and I am not sure what roll she is playing but I am sure she will be doing something. She is a good reader so she may have a reading to do or a petition.

That's too bad but it is all to common these days. I would get together with another family who doesn't have family close and make a new family!!

It does seem going to a restaurant will be better. It is good you can find a place where all of you can be together.

Yes I agree, my daughter in law gets very stressed by all the planning and cleaning etc. This way she can relax and enjoy.

I agree..there is never too much family time! Best wishes for you granddaughter on her First Communion and it's probably easier to just go to a restaurant for the celebration. Everyone is coming here for Mothers Day but everyone is bringing something so it makes it easy for me without having to cook

For many, many years we went to my mother's house for Mother's day. Now she is in a home and doesn't know it's Mother's day and last year I was in Florida so we have to start making new traditions.

Isn't 10 am always in the morning??
Seriously I hope you have a lovely weekend, you are lucky that you have a great family and get on so well with them all. Congratulations to Syd on her first communion, and happy mother's day to all the mothers in your family!
Here it will be a weekend of work in the garden I think! Our mother's day was back in March.
