Random Word Post – rickey

I find a random word by flipping through my 2003 The New Webster’s Concise Dictionary and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # “rickey – A drink consisting of liquor, usually gin, sweetened with lime juice, and carbonated water. Origin unknown.” I’m not much of a drinker, but the phrase “sweetened with lime juice” really threw me. Is that how you normally sweeten gin?

I don't drink at all. But I'm not sure gin and lime some good together in the first place, and wouldn't have drank when I used to drink.

That is odd, as lime juice is acidic thus a souring agent. I knew someone once with the name of Rickey, spelled just as you've written here.
