Standby breakfast

Variety is the spice of life and this applies also to having a different breakfast each day but there are days when one is in no mood to prepare those elaborate dishes or one does not have the time. In such circumstances it is always good to have a standby breakfast. We always have bread, peanut butters and nutella choco spread which comes in handy - a recently acquired taste. Do you also have any such items that you keep as standby?

I always keep in the freezer bread to toast that I serve with butter and jam, I also have yogurt ready to serve with fresh fruits. Nutella is banned in our home, too many saturated fats.

@LadyDuck i can understand. Those with health issues need to be careful. But surely you could eat if you are OK - just saying.

As a standby I do not suppose Nutella would be a no no in any household. You are very health conscious.

@allknowing My husband must not eat saturated fats, so I do not buy anything that can hurt him.

Yes, we always have 3 or more kinds of sandwich fillers for breakfast , so when i get lazy i just put them in the table together with the bread and coffee . That's breakfast already in a jiffy .

I rather like the stability of the same thing for breakfast.

If it is ready made this and ready made that then one does not need any standby stuff.

I often enjoy an English Muffun with peanut nut butter for breakfast.

Yup we have bread, fruit jam, butter, milk, sauce. Sandwiches with cucumber, tomato, onion and mayonnaise sauce takes less time too. They can easily be used for breakfast. Oh there is Maggi and Yippee too for absolute emergencies.

Though rich in fats I do not suppose eating this stuff once in a way will affect our health in any way

Very nice. Sounds like a good quick and easy breakfast. I am personally terrible about eating breakfast, I usually just have coffee and wait to eat at lunch.

Breakfast for me is the most important meal. I will also add a boiled egg for good measure (lol)

@allknowing When I go to work at my part-time job at 11 some days, I eat again before I leave. Yet, I am not at all overweight.

I'm not much of a breakfast eater, but our pantry and refrigerator is always well stocked.
