It is not yet June, if I read well. But as I browse the web, I am beggining to read suggesion on what to buy for Christmas, how to start making the list of the people that you will give presents to and so on. I was shocked! This is the worst you can do in a society where material goods are more important than love. Once upon a time, when the planet was young and so was I, we also prepared for Christmas. We got together to sing Joy to the World on tune, we tied jingle bells in our shoes, we used red ribbons in our hair. We, children, made presents for our parents with our own hands and kept them hidden until the right moment. Then we stole some of the gift papers that mother had put away from last Christmas to wrap the hideous clay ashtray as well as we could I still ask my grandchildren to make me drawings for occations. And I save them and cherish them a lot more than those boughten things I don{t need.

Someone suggested to me that I should already plan my next Christmas party and go for discounted sales which advice I got just a week after Xmas 2015, I did not take that advice but should have.

I donĀ“t know how you celebrate Christmas. For me the Christmas party is a gettogether with close family and grandchildren.

@marguicha Each year I invite orphans about 100 of them and throw a party for them.

It makes me sick only to think to start now to buy for Christmas. It was so much better in the past, when we made things with our hands and with love, not months before, but enough to feel the joy of the upcoming event.

I am sure that if we try, we can reverse this situation. I can still help my youngest grandkids make a manger with their own hands.

@LadyDuck I remember our Christmas. The gifts were not given before the children sang.

@marguicha Most parents should teach their children that Christmas is more than "buying expensive things".

The merchants are getting ridiculous.

Things were so much simpler back in the "old" days. I can't even begin to think about Christmas yet and it's just too much emphasis on money and what to buy. I agree...I love when I get handmade gifts

If you love that, then you should make them and give them. My friends and family love my homemade jams. I use recycled jars and old fabric as a way to add a zest to them.

I would ask my nieces and nephews to make their own gift for their parents, it will be surely great

They use their imagination and we can have lots of fun with them teaching them how to make papier mache and using old bits of fabrics.
