What have we become?

Headlines can either make or break you. What comes into your mind when you read this, "Actor "weds" a tree in Mexico". My first thought was, is he crazy? Or something like that. Jumped into conclusions, without reading the whole news. But, i know the title was catchy and i read how and why does this actor did that. He has reasons. He wanted awareness of the public of our nature. And he did well. Some people in social.media has been pretty conclusive on the title/headline of an article. Their thread of comments are proof. Some even bash and get themselves in a petty online quarrel. Especially those who has this "free data promo", that opening the news article isn't allowed, though we have those instant article, still...sigh. What have we become with social media? Or the internet?

Titles are made more outrageous now just to grab the attention of the people. The article writer's are able to get away with it because the titles have atleast a shred of truth to them. As is in the article you mention here. He did wed a tree, but not because he was crazy.

I agree with you @ScribbledAdNauseum. Writers are now clever in catching their reader's attention by using such titles.

So it is really important to read the content of an article. We or others mostly depend on the title or the first three sentences.

Yes, it is important so we can give a concrete conclusion and at the same time we have strong basis to conclude since it was written down in the article. :)

If someone married a tree, I don't know that I would want to know about it. But, there better be a tree standing there with a wedding dress on.

I remember a women who married a building in russia, and a woman who claim she married herself. Some people simply have trouble getting themselves a real partner these days. But whom am I to judge them, it's their life.

I'm not really sure actually since I'm not really sure what that news article was talking about. I'm sure the actor didn't really wed a tree, but most don't want to take enough time to find out what really happened and that is for different reasons for many folks.

@Lucky15 Okay, that's weird even if he was trying to bring to light something about saving nature or something. I have no problem with social media generally other than all the drama that takes place on places like facebook with people that know each other.

@Lucky15 Apparently one can tell the age of the tree by counting the rings. One ring equals one year.

I agree with that just reading the title itself sometimes we tend to create our immediate conclusion without traversing the whole article. I think it's just a abrupt response to some and worst is that they even post their comments and start to bash without knowing the whole story. I hope, readers would be mindful and comprehend first what is being written by the writer prior to jumping into conclusions. I though salute writers for thinking a great title that are really catchy.
