For the past days I decided that I would better respond to the new users discussions to help them better improve here in mylot and to be a first few friends they could have here.. In my head that this new users might be nice since they are just new to the site.. but then I was dissapointed. Although there we're quite some who really are naturally nice but some are just being rude. So I decided to don't mind new users discussion anymore and stick with my dear old mylot friends. (Selective, since I just get to remember those nice new users) How do we start off then of being friends then it is by responding to their comment. They if they would say I did not solicit your idea or the post is not for you, read before you comment (I did not get the point of the two line discussion)..then what would you feel? How about you have you encountered these new users? What have you observe? Or maybe I am just being too sensitive.

I do look at new users , I ignore or flag two word posts, but I read and comment on real discussions. Once in a blue moon one of them will return the favor but most ignore your attempt to be friends, or ignore your advice when the ask for it so I would guess one out of 25 newbies will carry on a conversation and actually interact and become that friendly myLotter.

I notice that as well..and most of the new posted discussions of the newbies really are with two line discussion. I could only see a few with a real discussion on it. And yes I notice that too they don't bother to continue the conversation. U forgot about that point too. But still I gain about 2 friends out of maybe 25 newbies.

@PainsOnSlate I notice that when I look at your profile. For the past years you are here and considering the number of activities you have done I notice the you followed only a few. So I was thinking that maybe you have a selective choice of who to follow. Now I get the answer form that curiosity.hehe

@jndlponti I don't follow anyone until they interact with me. Collecting followers is not the way I want to work here, I follow those who actually do respond to our posts.

You check on the recent discussions for most of the old members discussions are going to that rooter. It will.not appear to new members discussions. I believe the old members could help you better as to share with you their experiences and also guide you of the do's and don't here in the site.

I agree. It is quite disappointing. Anyway, try to ignore them please. It is their lost. I think they were absent when the classroom teacher discussed good manners and right conduct when dealing with other people.

@jndlponti I agree. There is no use giving our time to people who do not know how to appreciate it. Maybe they have issues that are haven't solved yet, that is why they treat others roughly.

Hahahah...I guess so.. maybe it's just that we are from different places that we have differences. What might be offending for me is a normal thing for them. But though I got the thinking of that.I try to avoid already any of thier posted discussion.

@jndlponti Yep and better check the nationality of the people you choose. What they think is offensive may not be offensive to us. So i'm really careful in talking to people from other countries. I try to check.

Most of the new users that I have encountered were nice, only a few I didn't care much for.

I did that many times already and same as you I got nothing from them. So I just waited when they commented in my discussion. That's the time I help them here.

Its really rare from the new bies to be responding to our comments.. but I think it would be better that way rather than they did respond but you just get offended.

I have not been here for a bit but if I see an interesting new discussion I try to be friendly. Depending upon how they respond leads me to become friends or just drop it.

I guess that is how we should be doing to avoid more misunderstanding.. I learned it from the oldies here that if you don't like it then just drop it.

I do help new users, specially the ones with great potential to do well here. I also focus on those discussions with no responses. Another thing you should also try is to check the older discussions of the people you follow. You might have missed some cool topics to discuss.

i think if they want a specific group of people only to answer their post, then they should write a more detailed post and specify that it is addressed to that group only. however, i think it's better to be gracious to strangers that wander in because they're curious about it, right? i mean sometimes, their point of view or suggestions are really helpful.

I think so.. but then if we would suggest how to improve their post they might be offended as well since they did not solicit the suggestion.hehe anyways at least we did help them earn a cent by responding on their started discussion.

I like to help any member, especially the new ones, when they have questions because we all started out and needed help. I steer away from the ones that are just a few words as there is often nothing to discuss.

I guess I have to stay away with those kinds of discussion already. Cannot really get to what they are trying to say. And when you ask they would answer back like I was not reading comments that is why I did not know. Haha

That is one too..what my experience was that when I try to respond he/she responded back but saying why am I not reading other response so I could know more and the discussion was only for the selected few of a certain country. But they it wasn't stated on the discussion.
