You can try this yourself with whatever 'tool' you have. As we are using computers I'll point to the 'spider solitare' game, but it can be anything. You are playing the game, and then you don't see an easy move. Walk away. Go on and do something else for at least five if not ten minutes. When you come back, everything is new and you see things you didn't see before. I find that walking away from a problem/decision/question gives you a new perspective and actives your mind in some very useful manner.

I've been "walking away" from crafts, projects and especially jigsaw puzzles for years. I've been trying to teach this technique to an impatient 10 year old grandson.
