Cooking Tips: Smoking Versus Grilling

It's been said that “Smoking is the new grilling”. Agree or disagree. Can't put this question to my spouse because he likes neither. As for me? Firm believer that “If you grill it, they will come.” Me and Bobby Flay are united on this front. Why is this cooking technique my choice? First of all, can't beat the taste of grilled foods. My second reason is more practical. ~ If you have a grill, you can grill and/or smoke. ~ If you have a smoker, you can not smoke and/or grill. Admit it. My logic is flawless. Any challengers?

Yes, your logic is flawless. :) Personally, I'd say grilling is better but that's because I don't really like the taste of smoked foods. Oddly, though, I quite like a tea called Lapsang Souchong, which tastes liked smoked bacon. :)

@pumpkinjam - In one sense, I kind of like Limited Edition stuff if it's something that I really enjoy. That way I can look forward to it when it comes out that certain time of the year. You know?

Have always enjoyed grilled food. But remember the first time my brother let me taste smoked turkey. If smoked turkey doesn't hook you, you can't be hooked.

Sounds right to me. I really like grilled food, but don't care for smoked at all.

I watched Steven Raichlen's cooking show on public television. He devoted an entire show to tips on smoking. He didn't convince my husband at all!

I'm OK with both. But grilling would top my list over smoking.

Where is your country? Never heard of superficial grilling. What does that mean?
