I went down to my neighbors house and she is having the time of her life shopping. She has her new exercise bike coming in a few days. clothing and a lot of other goodies. I decided to just pay all my extra money to pay down bill. I feel good about that but,I also miss getting packages. We started the same savings account the same day. I have $550 while she has $100 I feel double good about that too. I am about to get a gift card for Walmart and a package will arrive. I look forward to that as well. I have no real reason to be jealous at all. I chose what I did for me in the long run. Is this feeling going to stay when I see her new bike?

Jealousy can make us crazy if we allow it to. I think you'll be just fine when you see the bike!

I get jealous of my carefree neighbor as well. They are well off in terms of finances and don't have to worry about stretching the dollar. I am on fixed income and need to make sure that I am only buying $30 of impulse buys out of my tight budget. $30 for some may not be much, but it's a lot of money in my budget. I also feel very happy when I have $100 in my savings for the month after paying all my bills.

There are instances that we really can't avoid the feeling of being jealous to things that other people have. We even have this self-pity because they have lots while we have few. I think its normal but we should not be thinking about it most of the time. As what my parents told me when I was young, "be contented with what we have or work hard to able to have also what others have".

@sharon6345 .. true... we need to have more gold so that we can have the things that are more precious than the ones they have. Get ahead of them.

It is fun to get those packages, but having that money you saved does make you feel more secure.

Most people pay off bills first instead of spending money buying things they don't need but want. I always pay extra on mine as well to get it gone faster and buy things later on. I wouldn't worry about it she will hurt later on when she can't pay her bill or runs out of money to buy things.

It's natural to feel that way, but just keep doing what you are doing. It feels even better to save. I'm a little jealous of her exercise bike though. I could really use one of those myself.

Please don't be jealous of someone else. It takes away from what you have. She might be hurting when it is time to pay the bills. Always follow what is right for you and not focus on what someone else is able to buy. Earn cards for Walmart or Amazon online and the package truck will be stopping at your place, too.

isn't this the neighbor who bought it on credit and who has no plans to pay it off? Don't be jealous of her. She is crazy.

A lot of people who have money just spend it. We had this conversation at work the other day. A girl at work was carrying on about how a lot of people don't have money and how little money I have. I turned around and said my car is paid off 9 years ago the day I bought it, you owe thousands so tell me who has money.
