To make room for Maybin, 29, on their roster the Tigers will option to the Mud Hens outfielder Anthony Gose who has a batting average of .209 during the current baseball season. Maybin has been with the Mud Hens on a rehabilitation assignment since he broke his left wrist when he was hit a pitched ball during spring training. While Maybin was on his first rehabilitation assignment, he injured his shoulder diving for a baseball. Maybin will be making his first appearance with the Tigers on Monday when they will be hosting their American League Central Division rivals the Minnesota Twins for a three game series at Comerica Park in Detroit.

I didn't realize Maybin was rehabbing so it makes sense he gets called up. He never really blossomed but Gose wasn't exactly tearing it up.

Maybin is a better addition to the Tigers lineup than Gose at this time of the season.
