1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Several years ago when Steven was going through one of the worst times for aggressions, these verses kept appearing in my daily life. It would come in on my phone on my daily verse app, it would come up at devotionals, it would appear on Facebook. It was a hard for me to read this and understand what it really meant. I thought, how am I supposed to be thankful for Steven beating me up? I couldn't figure out how to rejoice in that happening. It took a couple of years, but I finally came to fully realize what it meant. I don't have to be thankful for the actual act of his aggression. I just have to be thankful. I do have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for a husband to help raise our son together. I am thankful for my physical family and all the support they give us. I am thankful for my spiritual family for their support. I am thankful for the wonderful school opportunity Steven had with attending the Illinois Center for Autism in Fairview Heights. I am thankful to have a house, a car, food and other items that so many go without. That is where the rejoicing and thanking comes in. God has blessed me beyond measure and I can't thank or praise Him enough. God has put so many people in my path to get me to where I am today. He is awesome! I pray that you all can find the little things to be thankful for. It can be hard when you face adversity or battle depression. But just keep plugging along, you will get there. God Bless!
