Soap Operas are no longer fun

I have always enjoyed watching soap operas because they were good entertainment when there was nothing better on TV. But these days, all the soap operas ( Eastenders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street etc) all seem to be very depressing. The storylines are all similar and several subjects get often repeated in all the programmes. I am seriously thinking about giving up watching the shows and doing something more interesting instead in the evenings.

@millie02 I used to watch Coronation Street and even began with the very first episode, but this was way back when I lived with my parents. My mother always watched the show, so naturally I watched since I was sat in the same room.

At least you in the UK still have your soaps. There are just 4 left in the US and they canceled the ones I watched.

I could never get into soap operas. There was even a time in my early 20's when I was stuck watching them in the hospital when my mom was ill and still just couldn't get caught up in the plots.

Soaps are known to stretch beyond their limit..hence becomes boring after a point of time
