I know there is danger no matter where you go or what you do, but it seems that Europe is becoming a less stable place to visit.

Most countries in Europe are safe and if you travel wiith your eyes open,you should be fine.If i were to go back packing, i`s also choose Europe. There are places you have to be careful,picpockets in Barcelona and Rome for example.

Absolutely not. Things are unstable, and backpage is shady. Play it safe. What exactly are you looking for? Housing, "companionship " or what?

Europe is still a safe place to visit. I think that there are less risks to be killed by a terrorist in Europe than by a mad killer in USA. But foreigners backpacking are a good target for robbers and pickpockets, and I would recommend you to avoid the South of Spain and the South of Italy.
