The New Place is a reality...

It's official. My worries are over. I sign my new lease tomorrow... gone are the days of hard to clean carpets and all too fragile construction. Now I'll have ceramic tile and stout walls of cinderblock. Gone is the busy street, now I'll have a quiet neighborhood with a meat and produce store just steps away, and a laundromat just around the corner. A fenced yard to sit in, in peace, away from noisy kids and nosy neighbors, and I don't have to mow it. I talked to the landlord today - he said he'd call me tonight. Instead, he texted me within two hours with the message "all is good. can we meet at 1:30 tomorrow for signing?" He also told me I can have the last 10 days of this month free of charge and just pay him next month's rent on the first. I'll have an awesome neighbor, actually two, and I know their dog and cat both already like me. So I'm really looking forward to this. It may not seem like it to most, but to me, this looks like the beginning of heaven.

Most important thing is how you feel about being in your new place. Congratulations! When's the house warming party?

it not only sounds lovely, it looks nice too, I LOVE brick walls. you CAN hang stuff on them with command strips, and they are easier to wipe down

@Rohvannyn I used to not like because you couldn't decorate but command strip stuff is amazing

Exactly. I really like the cleanability of them, too.

I hate carpet. I used to get calls from carpet cleaners. I'd tell them that I'm allergic to cats, it was the cats or the carpet - guess which went...

@Rohvannyn I lived for 3 and a half years in an apartment with those tiles, they were a b*tch to clean because of the grout.

Same choice I'd make! I'm really loving the feel of cool, ceramic tile under my feet on a 110 degree day.

It could stand to be a trifle bigger, but it'll work out great.

@valmnz That's a very good point! This place has plusses that ougtweigh the minuses, so I will.

I am deeply delighted for you. Cinderblock walls intrigue me. You probably can't hang paintings?

@Rohvannyn Dad says he is glad you won't have to buy a vacuum cleaner. He really wanted you to know that.

I can, but I would use sticky hangers. My new neighbor has things hanging literally all over her walls.

I also live in a quiet neighborhood. I've been here for more than 5 years and I have no complaints. I'm glad you found a good one.

Are you still at that place? It is always exciting to move to a new place and figuring out how you are going to decorate it and explore the area around it. I am very happy I moved where I live and hope can stay here as long as I want to.
