Do you think that Disney movies set girls up for failure. Life is not really like the movies that we see. Everyone doesn't live happily ever after? What do you think? Do you think it even makes a difference?

But Disney has presented strong animated female role models like Mulan and Pocahontas and that Brave girl.

Did they all end up with a man though? With a happy ending? I just don't believe everything ends up happy.

@angtobeheard Actually, no, they don't. A major point of Brave is that Merida absolutely refuses to consider marrying any of the young men her mother wants her to pick from, and she goes so far as to compete for her own hand during the competition they stage. There isn't a lick of romantic story in that one.

@yukimori You are right, there isn't any romance in that one. That's the only one I can think of though.

I'd be more inclined to say parents are setting their girls up for failure by not discussing the differences between Disney fantasies and how things work in the real world.
