I lied to my husband, so far he has no clue!

We had very windy weather Saturday and Sunday....today just a little of the more normal wind that we always have. However, yesterday's wind saved my butt. I'll explain.... The bigger of our two tomato plants had one long branch at the top and it had about 8 blooms on it (meaning the potential for 8 tomatoes). The wind had pushed the branch behind the stake and I wanted to push it back where it belonged. I guess I didn't know my own strength and when I pushed it snapped off. So, since no one saw me do it, I figured why cause a scene. When my husband came outside I casually said, "Oh you know that branch with the blooms, well, the wind snapped it off." Without hesitation he said, "It happens, can't do much about it." Please don't anyone tell him the truth - thanks!

Your secret is safe with me. It will produce more later and be a sturdier plant. I would be tempted to stick the broken part in water to see if it would root.

I could have stuck it in the ground, but the reason we only have two plants is because that's all we need, so I trashed it.

Do not worry I will not say a word. I know that sometimes we have to lie to keep the peace in the house.

@LadyDuck The 'looks' are worse than words no matter who gives them right.

Sometimes we just have to lie in order to avoid complications. In here, we call it "white lies." Perhaps you were thinking that if you tell the truth to your hubby then he will get angry with you and scold you. So, to avoid such scene, it is just better to lie.

Actually, he's a very easy going person and it would take more than that to get him upset...like if I killed the whole plant LOL

Who knows, if you didn't snap it, maybe the wind will, so it's better to just blame the wind.

The wind could have snapped but that didn't happen did it? Well, you're forgiven, anyway your husband doesn't think that it's a big deal about the branch.

we must be kin folks cause that would also be exactly what I did. DID you know you can root that branch and make another tomato plant? just bury it deep in the ground and soon it`ll make new roots.

I know I could have but we only have two plants since that's all we need - we get so many tomatoes we give them away - can't eat all of them fast enough! It's a secret.....
