Got A Little Vitamin D This Afternoon From The Sun

This afternoon I went outside to get a little bit of vitamin D from the sun. I can't stay too long in one shot as I start to feel "funny". While I was there, I took a few more photos of my garden, of course, what else is new? My lilac bush has some flowering but the tree itself doesn't have a pretty shape. I was wondering if maybe I should take a chance and prune it after the flowering, prune it a lot. Is it a good idea or a bad one?

ya need to tend to such here purty quick to ensure ya get blooms next year. i found a link fer ya with pic's :) 'n' how to tend to such.
Fragrant, colorful lilacs are easy to grow in most regions. Whether your lilac is a shrub or a small tree, it will need to be regularly pruned in order to maintain a healthy shape and size. Make sure to prune your lilacs at the right time...

@crazyhorseladycx I learned that I must be vigilant and prune the flowers when they become not so lovely anymore. Not wait for later on if I want blooming next Spring.

I think your supposed to wait until the fall to prune them but I'm not positive. Ours started to bloom then we got snow and it killed them all.

10 minutes of sun a day is not a bad price to pay for getting free Vitamin D.

I love the photo! I think lilac bushes are so pretty. I wish I had a few in my yard. I am unsure about the pruning idea. Normally hubby prunes our bushes back in the early spring months or in the fall.

I need to see if I can grow lilac here, I'm developing a shadier spot to the west of my home that might be just right for that venture

We always pruned the lilacs after they bloomed. You can look it up on line but i think it helps.

I don't have a lilac tree so I'm not sure about pruning it. It sounds as if just after flowering would be a good time to do it.

I was going to suggest waiting a bit before pruning, but it looks like the consensus is quite the opposite. Many flowers use the old blooms to feed the plant for the following year, but maybe it doesn't work that same way for the lilacs. I do know that most of the plants tend to have vibrant flowers every other year. While they'll bloom every year, the off year will look like something is wrong with the plant, but it's quite normal.
