The Little One Has Changed

I've noticed a huge change in my grandson since he began kindergarten this year. He has matured! Although he refuses to have is hair cut, he can now read at the end of the 2nd grade level with comprehension, fluency, and expression. His vocabulary surpasses both mine and my husband's, so it seems. His love of science has him taking two different classes after school per week. One is in aeronautics and the other in chemistry. He figure skates, does tae kwon do, and takes skateboard lessons (hence, the long hair). We really enjoyed spending time with just him and his daddy when in New York last Saturday.

They are such happy looking children, in every picture that you show of them they have those big beaming smiles. Your grandson sounds like he's doing very well, our son took off early with reading, it really amazed us just how quickly he went with his reading and he had a very high comprehension level also. Maybe instead of having short hair as a young boy, he'll have it as a teenager, he's maybe turned the tables on that one.

Yes, they are happy and innocent children, thank goodness. Both my sons read before school, so I'm thrilled with what he's accomplished in one short year. My granddaughter is in a group of one. She's brilliant, too, I'm proud to say. They give us so much joy. Lol, perhaps my grandson will have short hair as a teen!

@DianneN It's good, you know. I know some parents often end up in "battles" to get their kids to get outside and be involved in something. So it is nice to know you don't have to do it with yours.

Personally I think his hair is fantastic. I wanted my son to have long hair but he wouldn't go for it even at a young age.

Thank you. Both children support each other, even with their different interests, although they both love to ice skate and ski.

They both have plenty of time to play, believe it or not. The photo was taken between my granddaughter's tap dancing recitals.

Oh, school days
... makes me 'nostalgic' ... remembering when 'being good at something' felt like the only 'accomplishment' I needed
