There was a young hooker called Maud Who deprived a young lord of his hoard, She winked at the judge But he wouldn't budge, She still went to prison for fraud. Daft Daisy just hadn't a clue, There wasn't a lot that she knew, To count up to ten She used fingers, and then Took her blouse off to count up to two. If that last verse makes no sense to you, Just think of what she will view, If she bares her chest That's it - you have guessed, What's there that numbers just two? A limerick is meant to be comical, Whimsical, silly, nonsensical, I hope you like mine, But I'll try not to whine If you think my efforts pathetical. My photo of the Norwegian fjords.

I think that your limericks shine Ever so much better than mine But in spite of my folly I will still be jolly And make an attempt at sublime

@jaboUK & @BelleStarr I will follow this thread of comments. It seems I was flashed back to ancient times that they are using poems for interaction.

@BelleStarr You know that your lim'ricks are good, They flow as a limerick should, You've taken the time To reply in rhyme, Just as I hoped that you would

@jaboUK I asked for a note from my mum, But she just said "Listen here son, I'd write one for you, But it wouldn't be true, So just get back out there you big plum!"

@amadeo @jobelbojel I did caption the photo - it was taken when we cruised the Norwegian fjords. Glad you like it, though of course it's nothing to do with the post. I just like having a photo or image on all of my posts.

@jaboUK - Ms Janet - First of all, that is a magnificent photograph. I am most envious. Your limericks are funny and provided a funny thought here. Those of us who are of the male persuasion would have had to remove our shoes to complete the counting - and even then, some would have confused the number.

Another great collection. I do hope you are keeping all these safe somewhere. And, if you don't mind me saying, I think they flow really well now compared to your very early ones. That sounds condescending doesn't it but it isn't meant to be.

@JudyEv Not condescending at all Judy - I take it as a compliment. I've been doing these for getting on for 2 years now, and I suppose it's like anything else - the more you do it the better you get. It's funny that I never attempted any kind of poetry until I was 74 - I remember asking a friend of mine if she would do a poem for my daughter's wedding. It never entered my head that I could do it myself.

Your limerick was silly, comical, and whimsical And to learn the spelling I write nonsensical You can't be serious about that whine Looking for a negative opinion of mine Someday I might just find something there to be critical

@Inlemay Well I did say that limericks were meant to be nonsensical, so a non-existent word fits in ok, don'tcha think?

Advice to those who would read your poetry, never do so under the influence of liquor a limirick could prove harmful if you can't comprehend it's full meaning and end up a complete fool commenting...like me. hic!

@ Jabo Thank you, Jabo; your limerick made me laugh After a day that was really tough, So, I thought I'd say "thank you" And put in my two pennyworth too, The silly girls Maud and Daisy Thought bypassing the law would be easy, Alas! that's not what we are taught For legal offenses we tend to get caught, So, boring and dull , it may well be Yet, the straight and narrow path is the one for me, And now its late, I must get to bed And stop searching for rhyming words inside my head.
