A job that deals with human emotions

I pity those jobs that deal primarily with human emotions. I pity those lowly-paid workers that have to manage the hotline, and handle the frustrating customers. By the time the customers get to speak to a real person, they are already in the worst of moods. That is why I pity the operators taking the calls. They are not only dealing with the technical issues, but they have to deal with human emotions. I pity those doctors who have to tell the families of the patients the truth. It is hard to shatter the hope of the parents and tell them that their child is not going to live. These jobs are not for me. I just do not like to deal with human emotions.

I'm a nurse and yes it's not easy to deal with people and their emotions. It can really drain you. But it is also worth it specially when you get some grateful people. It lightens the load.

Yes, that is true. I think those nurses dealing with old people have very hard time. They may have to put up with abuse, since the old people are in pain, and do not really meant to hurt anyone.

@flapiz Glad that she listened despite of her pain and feeling of helplessness.

@scheng1 Yeah I almost got punched by my patient once. All I could do was beg and say, "grandma, I love you. Please don't punch me." Luckily she didn't.

I know some people don't have good jobs, but I don't look down upon them due to it. I always treat the cleaner well. She cleans our office everyday. In fact sometimes I don't know what she is speaking because of her dialect, but I always try to respond to her rather than keep silent. I just pity those people who are thieves, robbers etc. Since they earn money through the wrong way.

Personally I think cleaners have more power than us! They can access the CEO and Chairman office, while we have to make appointment or we may not even get to see at all. They can tell the CEO and Chairman all sort of nonsense, and yet the CEO will believe them. For us, it is rare even to have a chance to say hello to the CEO.

Any thing that deals with people I could not do. lol I guess it is how you look at it though. I think if I were forced, my number one question would be how can I make it better? Of course that might be a trap.

Yes, true, if that is the only job in town that will hire us, I think we will have to do it, and do it well. I think it is a matter of keeping our emotions in check. Just take it as a job, and nothing personal.

I agree that those types of jobs are difficult and I also wouldn't be able to work in any of those fields

I think those who can make a career out of such jobs are really great people. They just have the patience to take such insults for such a low pay.
