My official summer kick-off!

United States
May 26, 2016 1:41pm CST
For some Memorial weekend is the official start of summer. Summer starts when I say it does! And today is the day.... Yesterday I made BBQ sauce and have had chicken marinating since early this morning. I made potato salad for my husband, bacon and all! I don't eat it so he gets to enjoy it for a few days. We picked up a few years of corn. Of course we will have big salads for fresh-from-the-garden greens. I was pretty close to going in the pool, but the water is a little too cool, but I have a feeling that in another day or two I'll be in there. The air is 87 right not and we usually climb well beyond 6 pm, so it should hit 90 without a problem. How are you kicking off summer? Photo belongs to me.

Summer isn't actually here until June 21. I am not doing anything to kick off summer. Trying to find something to eat and reading your post is really making me hungry.Enjoy!

I know what day the calendar says summer starts, but it's 90 degrees here, that's summer for me. My chicken was excellent and even the corn was better than I thought it would be!.

@AbbyGreenhill We used to have a house at the country with a huge pool 20'X40". We felt like we were in paradise there. Our 2 sons loved it. But we sold it and bought a house in the city.

That pool is dreamy. I sure wish I could play in a pool. We have a food fest in town but usually the food is pretty crummy and there's no where to sit to eat it. Hubby wants to go cause we don't get out much. I wish I could say no.

@AbbyGreenhill Good idea but we don't have folding chairs. I wonder if I could pack one for a distance? The parking is abysmal so we have to walk quite a ways to get to the festival.

What a lovely pool yard you have! We're not kicking off summer just yet - the kids are still in school and we have a couple weeks left of it. For now we are in school mode - can't even think of summer yet (only dreaming of it to come ). We want to create BBQ area for our yard - but for now I have my handy dandy indoor electric grill . . . I can't wait for those outdoor meals in the summer! Enjoy your kick off!!

@AbbyGreenhill Yes it does, and now that my freezer is working again - on its own, I didn't do anything, just found frozen Pepsi in the freezer - I'll be able to get more freezer food again and have a good grill day on Monday.
