Something is wrong with bath soaps now

I just had a quick shower and, as I have been observing many times now, the floor drain cannot catch up with the water pouring from the shower head. Our floor drain has a strainer and we usually take out the hair which comes off our head when we're bathing to prevent them from clogging the drain pipes. Lately, I have noticed that even if there is only little hair on the strainer, water could not freely flow down the drain because of thin particles of the bath soap. It was not like this before. I think the soap manufacturers are putting in some chemicals other than what they were using before. Have you noticed this too with your floor drains?

I haven't noticed it. I will check tomorrow when I take a bath.

It could be all the sulfate and the parabens that they put into the soap and shampoos.

So that's not environment-friendly? And harmful to humans too?

Well I saw on recyclebank that the companies used to used platic bead things in the exfoliating scrubs but they are banned now. I have shampoo and conditioner with oil in it and I worry it will gunk up the pipes over time.

Yes! My home too! I figured the pipes are older. We have the strain for hair too but it could be our shampoos, conditioners, misc products and soaps.

Thanks, Ms.Michelle. I think it's the composition of bath soaps, shampoo & conditioner, as you said, aside from hair that go through the strainers.

Can't say that I have, but a lot of goop seems to collect not allowing the hair to flow freely down the drain. I hate pulling it out of the drain!!

I think that's the same as what's clogging our strainer. I use tissue paper to take out the hair and put it in the bin and I have instructed everyone in the household to do the same :)

Perhaps in your country because most likely, you have stricter regulators than ours :)
