I just happened to remember that it is Employee Appreciation Day At work. I had totally forgotten about it as I wasn't sure whether I would be working tonight or not. Anyway, I am working. We may have BBQ when we get in to work. I don't know, as we are the last shift in and we don't seem to get the best pickings after one of these days.... I will probably just get myself a little something for lunch and pick at whatever there is to offer. I am trying to eat healthier after all!

Maybe they will have some fruits and vegetables. Whenever there is a bbq I tend to have those first.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I never eat cake at these occasions. If they had pie or cookies I would have problems saying no.

@ElusiveButterfly We will find cookies in the break room, but very rarely. Usually only when they are going to be thrown out otherwise, and usually ONLY when one manager is working. The ones the bakery makes are so good! Very big, and stuffed with yumminess. There's one that has cranberries and raisins in it with white chocolate pieces! YUM!

That'd be nice if they have a little potluck for you though!

There was plenty left. When it's something like pizza or thanksgiving meal? We usually get very little left over. I had bbq, bbq slaw, baked beans and hush puppies.

@ScribbledAdNauseum They gave you left overs? Not each shift has a little new party?

@infatuatedbby Well when we had a pizza party they did buy us fresh pizza. This was from a restaurant that they had to order from.. So yeah, we got the left overs but there was a lot of it.

'Employee Appreciation Day' should be held everyday then! Free BBQ for everyone!!! Seriously, good luck on trying to eat healthy! I'm going to start doing that myself.

I have been buying myself some grapes, or a salad for lunch. I've also started getting these chips that are dried strawberries or apples, nothing else. Just the dried fruit itself. They are delicious and only about 40 calories.

@ScribbledAdNauseum good for you. I'm sticking to fruits and veggies myself. Plus lots of fresh fruit juice.

@allen0187 I've been reading a lot about making your own infused water. There are different recipes online but pretty simple. Just use fresh fruit and water, let the fruit sit in the water for atleast a half hour...

I hope that means you were feeling better to go to work...and that the earlier shifts left you all some of the good stuff.

I just have this lingering cough going on now. Last night I felt sort of "wheezy" if that makes sense? I wasn't wheezing but my chest was tight from the congestion. I bought some vick's vapor rub and have been using it. DId you know it's supposed to be more effective when applied to the feet?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I've read that putting sliced onions on the bottom of your feet will pull sickness out.

@marsha32 I've heard that too. I am not sure how it would work with just a lingering cough. Thanks for reminding me though.

We all need to eat healthy foods, you never know when sickness could intervene with your work.

Exactly! Healthy foods are "fuel" as they say. Better to eat as healthy as possible. I also picked up some oranges that were only 99 cent for a small bag of around 8.

Ooopps-such events don't always give us raw fruits or things not coated with BBQ sauce, do they?
