What's Been Going On

Good morning all and I hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Sorry I have not been here in a few days been busy with things. My husband and I celebrated our 28th Anniversary yesterday and we have been going to a few garage sales and grilling out with the family for a few days as well. It's been very hot here the last week or so and I finally gave in and turned on the air. Just a week or so ago my heat was on. We have had strange weather here now for quite a few years. Seems they are almost finished with the water project here and most of the equipment is gone and they are bringing in dirt to repair the lawns they tore up. I have no idea if my lawn will be included in the repair and I guess I can live with that, they only tore up a small part of my lawn. So we shall see come Tuesday I'm thinking. Other things in my life or should I say my son's lives are on going. My youngest is leaving for Crete next week and my stomach is in knots. He told me he is going to come home after that week in Crete and I'm beyond excited. I haven't seen him since March. And I miss him so. My oldest son who is my gentle soul is getting a 2nd job this Wednesday. He has been working at a huge grocery store now for 3 years, but as things go his and everyone in the store hours have been trimmed back. We have an extremely busy pizza place in town and he is friends with most of the workers there including a couple of managers there. They have been bugging him for over a week to take a delivery job with them. A friend of his has been a delivery driver there for almost 3 years and just in tips alone he makes about 200 a week and that doesn't include his wage. So my son finally told them ok and will start that job next week. He has plans to pay off his debt to me as quickly as possible. I don't bug him about what he owes me my husband and I are doing just fine, but that's my kid. And I'm proud of him. Have a most wonderful day all and I hope I didn't tire you all out with my long ramble.

I can imagine how excited you are to see your son when he gets back home again. Our son is waiting to start a second job, if that's what you can call it. He plays a lot of sports, and the registration fees can add up, so he joined the company that he registers thru and will referee bubble soccer for the short season that begins soon, that way he gets the employee discount on any of the teams he joins.

You son sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. Reducing his registration costs like he is doing shows great responsibility I think. Much good luck to him.

@jaboUK No we can't ask for more than that. It's a wonderful thing to be proud of your kids, wonderful that you are of yours. So many parents shouldn't be parents and it breaks my heart, one of my sons friends has miserable parents and often said he wished me and my husband were his parents. We treat him as such even now that he is grown. He calls me mom all the time.

No, you didn't tire me out with your long ramble. Things are exciting around your house. I agree, it's been hot. I don't have the air on, but I do have all the ceiling fans on.

Your sons sound very responsible. I think it is hard for young people nowadays as regards employment and getting ahead.

@fishtiger58 Our two boys will get this house too - or whatever one we happen to be in - but they wouldn't want to live here. But that's okay.

It really is, it's a shame that full time employment is so hard to find these days. A young person can't make it on their own when they have only part time work at minimum wages. I will never kick my son out of our house. My two sons will inherit this house so they both will always have a home. What they do with it after I'm gone is their business. Thankfully they love each other so what they decide will be for both their benefits.

I am glad that your son is doing well and yes many places these days cut back hours to make sure everyone is part time. I am glad he found a second job to supplement his income. I haven't been on much either, life gets crazy.

Thanks so much. I will be happy when my youngest gets back to the United States, I am very nervous about the whole thing. I know he has to go the university is sending him, but I'm nervous just the same. And he can't call me, no cell phone coverage he told me. So he will let me know he is ok on facebook instead. I am excited for my oldest son and he is excited as well.

You had a lot of news and it is good that your son will be home soon. I had no idea that tips were that good for pizza delivery. We usually pick ours up.

I didn't either I was really surprised by the amount you could make on a busy night. I'm very happy for my son, he hasn't even interviewed for the job but he is already going to be working on Wednesday and Friday night. The pizza place has been begging him to take the job now for almost two weeks, he just had to think about it for a bit.

I was sitting in my boat fishing. All the clouds that day were just huge, I have many more, every time the wind blew the clouds changed. Thanks John.
